Piano, Piano by Jade Gross is a red wine of the 2024 vintage, made by the multifaceted Jade in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, a municipality attached to the Denominación de Origen Calificada Rioja.
This wine is made with the most widespread and typical variety of Rioja: Tempranillo.
The grapes come from a 0.5-hectare plot located in Laliende, San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Rioja Alavesa. The vineyard was planted using the bush-trained method over 40 years ago, mainly with Tempranillo, although there are some Garnacha and Viura vines, on gravelly soil at an altitude of over 450 metres above sea level. As it offers little shelter and is not very high up, it is usually the first plot to be harvested after the hot summer.
‘Piano, piano’ means ‘slowly, slowly’ in Italian, and this is precisely the philosophy that the winemaker seeks to embody by working with local winegrowers, with a long-term outlook and a willingness to learn from the inevitable challenges.
The grapes were harvested by hand on September 19, 2024, and the destemmed grapes along with 30% whole bunches fermented in an open stainless steel tank. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, almost all of them were of 500 liters.
A very exclusive red wine from La Rioja of which there are only 2330 bottles. A real rarity!
