Jabalina is a rosé wine from the vintage 2025 made by multifaceted Jade Gross with the help of the famous Riojan winemaker Abel Mendoza, in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, a township adhered to the Rioja Denominacion de Origen Calificada.
This fourth vintage features a change in the winemaking process: it blends the most widespread and typical variety in Rioja – Tempranillo – with an equal proportion of Grenache.
The Tempranillo comes from the ‘La Cantera’ vineyard in Labastida, Rioja Alavesa. The vines, which are 39 years old, are trained using the bush method and grow on clay-limestone soil at an altitude of 600–650 metres. The Grenache, planted 34 years ago, is grown on sandy soils in San Vicente de la Sonsierra.
The grapes were hand-harvested on 14 September 2025 and, following whole-bunch pressing, the must fermented in a 500-litre French oak barrel, where it was then aged on the lees for six months.
A very exclusive Rioja rosé wine of which there are only 1070 individually numbered bottles. An absolute rarity!
