Los Tabaqueros (the name of another parcel of Llanos Negros) is made from 4 Canary Island varieties, Sabro, Malvasía Aromática, Vijariego and Listán Blanco.
The grapes were macerated prior to fermentation in stainless steel tanks, where they remained for 9 months with their lees. After this time it remained in the tank for the next 8 years until its bottling in 2015. The Sabro and Malvasia grapes came with botrytis cinerea (noble botrytis), which adds much more complexity to a wine made as a dry wine.
This 2006 vintage marks the foundation of this blend which became a solera system. Los Tabaqueros has become an exclusive rarity, bottled sporadically in runs of just 1,800 bottles, with the base wine refreshed using the same proportions of young wines. This unique technique preserves the original character of the vintage whilst keeping the wine fresh and lively over time.
