Llanos Negros Los Tabaqueros NV is a white wine with a unique character, produced in Fuencaliente, in the south of La Palma, from traditional Canarian grape varieties: Sabro, Malvasía Aromática, Vijariego and Listán Blanco. Its identity is linked to the volcanic ash soils and the vineyard landscape of Los Llanos Negros, where the traditional grape varieties are grown in low, close-to-the-ground rows to protect them from the Atlantic winds.
Its distinctive feature lies in the blend of different vintages: the wine combines 76 per cent from 2006, 15 per cent from 2000 (this vintage consists solely of Listán Blanco, which until 2026 was sold under the La Time label and has been stored in a cellar all these years), 5 per cent from 2023 and 4 per cent from 2024. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for nine months on its lees, it is subsequently transferred to another stainless steel tank for storage over several years until bottling. In some years, the Sabro and Malvasía grapes were affected by Botrytis cinerea (noble rot), which lends much greater complexity to a wine produced as a dry wine.
This wine offers a mature and complex profile, with notes of ripe fruit, orange, quince, honey and nuts. Its fuller-bodied texture is balanced by lively acidity and a lingering, slightly salty finish. A wine with a mature and deep profile that demonstrates the ageing potential of Canarian white wines.
