Puro Rofe Mestura 2023

Rayco Fernandez and his team in Lanzarote launched the Puro Rofe project in 2017 and surprised the Canarian wine scene with their single-varietal and single-vineyard wines.

Mestura 2023 is an exceptional cuvée crafted from a selection of the vintage’s finest single-vineyard wines, sourced from Tilama, Juan Bello, Masdache and Testeyna. The selection of the finest barrels aims to offer a comprehensive and precise interpretation of the island’s wine-growing landscape.

Puro Rofe Mestura 2023 brings together Malvasía Volcánica, Listán Blanco and Diego from traditional vineyards in Lanzarote, grown on volcanic soils with sand, clay and, in some areas, limestone. The 2023 vintage is a distinctive blend of the island’s finest vineyard sites, selected for their finesse, breadth and ability to express Lanzarote’s unique viticultural landscape.

The wine shows pronounced mineral intensity, with notes of flint, lime and bitter orange peel. Its texture is subtly creamy, balanced by a dry, precise profile and a distinctive chalky, saline finish. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, followed by ageing in stainless steel and oak barrels, adds complexity while preserving the character of the island. A deep, distinctive white with remarkable length and Atlantic character.
