Suertes del Marqués is a family winery in Valle de La Orotava, Tenerife, led by winemaker Jonatan García, one of the key figures behind the revival of the island's indigenous grape varieties and old vineyards. His approach focuses on expressing the volcanic, Atlantic and mineral character of each vineyard through careful viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking.
Vidonia 2025 is one of the signature white wines of Suertes del Marqués, produced in the D.O. Valle de La Orotava, Tenerife, from 100% Listán Blanco grown on vines over 100 years old. The vineyard is located in the Las Suertes area, at 350–450 metres above sea level, on clay soils of volcanic origin and trained using the traditional cordón trenzado system.
The grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed and gently pressed, using only the free-run juice. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in 500-litre barrels and 25-hectolitre foudres, followed by 10 months ageing on fine lees. The wine remains in large-format oak vessels, adding texture and complexity while preserving the expression of the vineyard.
It is a deep, precise and elegant white, showing ripe fruit, dried flowers, spice and fine lees character. On the palate, texture and breadth combine with pronounced volcanic minerality, freshness and saline character, leading to a long, savoury finish. A highly gastronomic wine, particularly suited to seafood, fish, seafood rice dishes, Japanese cuisine and poultry.
Like all the wines from this winery, it has great ageing potential.
