Suertes del Marqués is a family winery in Valle de La Orotava, Tenerife, led by winemaker Jonatan García, one of the key figures behind the revival of the island's indigenous grape varieties and old vineyards. His approach focuses on expressing the volcanic, Atlantic and mineral character of each vineyard through careful viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking.
Trenzado 2020 is one of the signature white wines of Suertes del Marqués and Valle de La Orotava, Tenerife. It is made predominantly from old, ungrafted Listán Blanco vines, complemented by a small proportion of indigenous varieties. The vineyards are located across different parts of the valley and are mostly trained using the traditional cordón trenzado system, which gives the wine its name. The 2020 vintage comes from poor volcanic soils and was harvested relatively early to preserve freshness.
For the 2020 vintage, fermentation was carried out spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in large foudres and used 500-litre barrels. The wine remained on its lees for approximately 9–10 months, without lees stirring, preserving texture and mineral expression.
This is a dry, fresh, saline and deeply mineral white, showing white and citrus fruit, herbs, nuts and a distinctive volcanic-stone character. Its vibrant acidity and Atlantic character provide tension and length, making it particularly versatile with fish, seafood, oysters, Japanese cuisine, poultry and cheese.
