A red wine from Michael Wenzel curiously made with minimal intervention, from the Austrian variety par excellence, the Blaufränkisch, from the Burgenland area known for its high quality reds.

The grapes are grown on several plots of land near the village of Rust itself, on limestone (predominant, as the label indicates, Kalk is lime in German) and clay soils. On the label you can see the stork flying over the village, which enjoys these birds in abundance.

This wine is a different interpretation of this classic, tannic variety: although the grapes are macerated and fermented spontaneously for a long time in tanks, they are not pressed to avoid excessive extraction of tannins. It is then refined in old barrels to become this fruity wine, with vegetal touches (such as beetroot), a rustic point of pleasant tannins, and all this balanced by an excellent acidity.

The 2022 vintage, being a little warmer than the previous ones, transfers riper fruit aromas to the wine and makes it very enjoyable at any time.
