Legrand-Latour Lutétien 2021 Brut Nature Champagne

Legrand-Latour is the project of Thibault Legrand, a grower based in Œuilly, in the Vallée de la Marne, working with small vineyard plots through a philosophy focused on terroir, geology and minimal intervention. His Champagnes aim to express the character of each soil and vineyard site with precision, using spontaneous fermentation, oak ageing and low or zero dosage to preserve the wines' natural identity.

Lutétien 2021 is a Brut Nature Champagne made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, from Vandières in the Vallée de la Marne. Its name refers to the Lutetian geological stage of the Middle Eocene, when ancient marine deposits formed the fossil-rich calcareous sands and shell deposits that define this terroir. The blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is designed to express this distinctive geological identity.

The wine follows Thibault Legrand's minimal-intervention philosophy, with 12 months ageing in oak barrels on the lees, tirage using grape must and no added sugar or additional sulphur in September 2022. The 2021 vintage was disgorged in January 2026 and released as a Brut Nature, with 0 g/l dosage. Production was limited to just 3,212 bottles.

The wine is defined by its freshness, precision and pronounced chalky minerality, with delicate white fruit, floral notes and nuances of stone and sea shells. Chardonnay brings tension and verticality, while Pinot Noir adds structure and depth. A saline, elegant and highly gastronomic single-vineyard Champagne, particularly suited to oysters, seafood, white fish and Japanese cuisine.
