Legrand-Latour is the project of Thibault Legrand, a grower based in Œuilly, in the Vallée de la Marne, working with small vineyard plots through a philosophy focused on terroir, geology and minimal intervention. His Champagnes aim to express the character of each soil and vineyard site with precision, using spontaneous fermentation, oak ageing and low or zero dosage to preserve the wines' natural identity.

Campanien 2020 is a 100% Meunier Brut Nature Champagne made by Thibault Legrand in Œuilly, Premier Cru, Vallée de la Marne. Its name refers to the Campanian geological stage of the Upper Cretaceous, when the chalk layers characteristic of Champagne were formed. The wine explores the connection between geology and terroir through its clay and chalk soils.

The wine follows a minimal-intervention approach, with whole-cluster pressing, spontaneous fermentation in used oak barrels and ageing on the lees. The 2020 vintage spent around 24 months in barrel, followed by tirage using grape must in September 2022 and extended bottle ageing until disgorgement in January 2026. Released as a Brut Nature, with no dosage, at 11.5% alcohol, only 2,400 botteles.

This is a deep, dry and mineral Champagne, giving Meunier a more serious and vinous expression. Notes of brioche, nuts and chalky stone combine with an elegant, fresh and persistent palate. A particularly compelling choice for gastronomic wine lists and for those looking for terroir-driven Champagne, small-production wines and minimal intervention.
