Petit Clergeot Chevry Champagne 2022

Petit Clergeot Champagne is the personal project of Paul-Bastien Clergeot, a young winemaker from Polisot in the Côte des Bar, who in 2017 decided to transform the family’s vineyards into a small-scale production of single-vineyard Champagne.

His philosophy can be summed up as ‘one plot, one grape variety, one vintage’: to produce precise and distinctive wines that express the terroir rather than the style of a maison, working organically and with minimal intervention.

Petit Clergeot Chevry 2022 is a 100% Pinot Noir Blanc de Noirs Champagne from a single vineyard in Polisot, Côte des Bar, the southern part of Champagne that has become increasingly known for distinctive small-grower wines. The Chevry plot lies on the lower part of the slope beside the river and was planted in 1975. Paul-Bastien Clergeot farms his vineyards following organic and biodynamic principles, with a focus on expressing the site through minimal intervention.

The 2022 vintage was harvested in late August and fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. After two years ageing on its lees, the wine was disgorged in early 2025 without dosage, making it a Brut Nature Champagne. Only 5,637 bottles were produced, underlining the estate's small-scale, artisanal approach.

The wine shows a precise and highly gastronomic profile, with notes of golden apple, citrus, white cherry and pronounced mineral character. Fresh, taut and focused on the palate, it combines fine texture with a dry, persistent finish. A distinctive Pinot Noir Champagne that puts terroir, purity and energy at the forefront, particularly well suited to seafood, fish, aperitifs and ingredient-driven cuisine.
