Mas Martinet Els Escurçons is a single varietal Garnacha red wine named after the estate where the grapes come from, located on a mountain surrounded by holm oaks. The vineyard is located in the area of the municipality of Gratallops, about 600 meters above sea level, the soil composition is mainly the characteristic crumbled slate called "llicorella" (although in this part it is richer in iron), Winemaking notes: the grapes are macerated for 5 days before fermentation begins, which takes place in terracotta jars (ceramic jars) for about 3 weeks. The wine is then aged for 1 year in a smaller jar (amphora) and finally refined for another 8 months in 54-liter glass demijohns before bottling. Throughout the process the wine has no contact with oak. The 2015 vintage is one of the most special for this wine, as there was a major fire in the vineyard area, and although fortunately the vineyard was saved, the harvest was reduced (only about 1,000 bottles were made, much less than usual). This magnificent wine tells us about the historical events through the sensations: the smoky notes can be appreciated in a marked but integrated way.
