Itsasmendi Bat Berri 2019

A genuine wine, the first of its kind, a brisado or orange wine txakoli! The 2019 vintage is already the fourth of this wine although it is still called "New One" (Bat Berri in Basque), the grapes of the Hondarrabi zuri variety come from a plot in Gernika grown at sea level.

The peculiarity of this wine is its production: the whole bunches are subjected to carbonic maceration, with their respective contact with the skins, for fermentation for 15 days in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then refined for a short period of a couple of months in 500-litre red clay amphora. Bottled without filtering or fining, so it may generate some sediment at the bottom of the bottle.

The Itsasmendi winery continues to reduce the use of sulphur dioxide and only a minimum amount is added to this natural wine before bottling for its correct preservation.

Fresh, perfumed and complex, gastronomic and very easy to drink!
