The Georges Laval winery has been run by Vincent Laval since 1996, although the family's history goes back several generations as winegrowers located in the village of Cumieres, near the heart of Champagne. Vincent's champagnes have their own style: fermentation in old 228-litre Burgundian barrels, no filtering or fining, no dosage or minimal sugar before bottling, minimal addition of sulphur (about 20 mg/l). Cumieres Premier Cru Brut Nature is made from the 3 main varieties of the region: Pinot Noir, Meunier and some Chardonnay. This Cumières is labelled as Brut Nature as it does not have any dosage (added 0 grams of sugar per litre). The wine comes from the 2020 vintage. Disgorgement September 2022. Our impression of this wine: very perfumed nose, with floral touches, hints of wild cherry, with nutty undertones. On the palate, its high acidity is balanced with citrus notes combined with red stone fruit (cherry, plum), and a floral reminiscence of almond blossom. The bubbles are small, persistent, and the wine has a very long finish. A great champagne!
