Jorge Monzón, the architect of the Dominio del Águila project, offers a modern vision to this relatively young but well-established wine region: Ribera del Duero.
The main variety grown in La Aguilera, where the winery is located, is Tempranillo. As the vineyards are very old, the wines are not 100% single-varietal, as in the past a small percentage of different grape varieties were planted, as is the case with this claret (a term used to refer to rosé wines that use both red grapes and white varieties together in the winemaking process). The main variety is Tempranillo, but it also contains a part of albillo mayor, garnacha and bobal.
Unlike conventional rosé wines, this one is aged for 18 to 20 months in large oak casks.
