What is Furmint wine?
Furmint wine is produced with the grape of the same name. This white grape of Hungarian origin is the third most widely planted in its country of origin, and is ideal for dessert wines. In fact, it is so popular that it has its own honor day. International Furmint Day is celebrated on February 1 in countries such as Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, Croatia and Austria. And it is from this last country that our furmint wine comes from.
Its main characteristic is that it ripens late, which makes it sensitive to frost and resistant to drought.
How is furmint grape wine?
With this grape, a mainly dry production is obtained. It is with the October harvests that sweets can be obtained. In general, they have high sugar levels, as well as acidity. In this way, various levels of flavors that are defined as complex are obtained.
In addition to desserts with the sweet variant, seafood is ideal to accompany furmint wine. However, it is very versatile and thanks to this we can enjoy it with meats, especially white, spicy or spicy.
The furmint wine available in BlancoTinto comes from the Michael Wenzel winery, a winemaker highly recognized for his white and dry furmint wines. His work is produced in the state of Burgenland, in Austria, with 10 cultivated hectares.
