Els Villusionistes show their best with this marvellous red wine made from Garnacha (Grenache) and Cariñena (Carignan).
The blend is 54% carignan and 46% grenache, both from old vineyard plots with slate and calcareous soils. This winery does not work with oak barrels, and in the case of this Equanim label, the grapes of both varieties were put into clay vessels (Spanish Tinajas) for fermentation and later 8 months ageing before blending and bottling.
Artisan and natural winemaking, they only add some suplhites for preserving the wine (20 mg/l).
It’s eye-catching label design might look a fantasy picture but in fact it is a coloured cutaway image of a vine’s trunk.
There were only 1700 bottles filled of this wine from 2019 vintage.
