Where is the Canarian white wine from Bodegas Tisalaya born?
The Canarian white wine produced by Miguel Morales is obtained from a vineyard located in the Timanfaya National Park, which is over 60 years old and covers 0.45 hectares. Each one of the vineyards of Bodegas Tisalaya is cultivated in holes in the volcanic sand, also known as rofe. These holes at 250 meters above sea level make it impossible to harvest in any way other than by hand. That is why this type of wine has so much history and importance behind it.
The Vijariego variety (or better known by the inhabitants of Lanzarote as Diego) is one of the most forgotten and left in the shadow of the famous volcanic malvasia. Still, this isn’t to say that it doesn’t have potential. In fact, this is where the Canarian white wine of the longest-lived variety comes from.
Miguel Morales also grows the Malvasía Volcánica variety, a highly scented variety. Malvasía Volcánica provides very delicious aromas in any glass in which it is served. This is cultivated in a plot of 0.22 Ha in trenches. This is the method of cultivation in which the plantations are carried out in rows with a protection of small barriers of volcanic stones.

Tisalaya Diego 2017 and 2018
With a production of 1,500 bottles in the 2017 vintage and 2,500 in the 2018 vintage, Diego wines were created. Miguel Morales began marketing his Canarian white wine in 2017, becoming his first official vintage.
Diego 2017 has 13% alcohol, while Diego 2018 rises 0.5 points in its alcohol level.
For the production of these wines, maceration was carried out with skins for 12 hours, with manual pressing in a winery press and spontaneous fermentation to later leave it to age for 10 months on the lees in stainless steel tanks.
Tisalaya La Vegueta 2018
After the first commercialization of white wine from the Canary Islands in 2017, Miguel Morales released his first wine for sale combining the two white varieties that he has in his vineyards and that he carefully cultivates. In this way, the final product results in 0.75 l bottles with 50% Diego and another 50% Malvasía Volcánica.
This type of wine with the two varieties combined has 13.5% alcohol in its composition.
The curious thing about the production of La Vegueta wine is that it had a single production in 2018 thanks to the great harvest of grapes that was in that year. In this way only a total of 760 bottles were produced for consumption. For the production of this wine, a manual harvest was carried out, maceration with skins for 12 hours, manual pressing in a press, spontaneous fermentation and subsequent aging for 9 months on the lees in stainless steel tanks.
