The history of Bodega Sentencia

Bodega Sentencia arises from the hand of Alberto Pedrón, who began to care for and protect the great heritage of his family: The Sentencia vineyards, located between Utiel and Requena.

Alberto’s interest in viticulture, who has lived there since he was a child, has led him to a large reserve of quality wines. Some of them come from practically forgotten varieties, but one day they were highly recognized. That is why its wines become special wines and difficult to obtain. Not only because of the variety of the vineyards where they come from, but also because of the cultivation techniques that, for generations, have been passed down from father to son in a family environment until they ended up in the hands of Alberto, founder of Bodegas & Viñedos Sentencia.

• JUDGMENT 2014: In the 2014 vintage, 3,000 bottles of this red wine were sold, so that everyone could enjoy this bobal (80%) and garnacha (20%) red wine. They were cultivated in the Requena area in dry land and in a totally ecological way in vines that are over 60 years old. This wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in French barrels for 1 year.

• SENTENCIA 2015-2018: Except for the 2017 vintage, the wines from Bodega Sentencia were grown from vineyards between 60 and 80 years old in the Requena area. Again, they are bobal (80%) and garnacha (20%) red wines, fermented in stainless steel and aged in French barrels for 15 months.
• SENTENCIA LAS BAIRETAS 2017: In this year, Alberto Pedrón together with the Las Bairetas restaurant located in Chiva, launched this project. The grapes were grown in the Sierra de Chiva, dry land. The wines from Bodega Sentencia of this year fermented with skins and stems for 6 weeks and then aged on the lees in stainless steel tanks for 9 months. Finally, 600 bottles of this orange muscatel wine (Orange wine from Moscatel de Alejandría) were sold.
• SENTENCIA DETICHE MÉTODO ANCESTRAL 2019: After a series of vintages where red wines were marketed, in 2019 the dynamics changed. An ancestral method was used for the elaboration of sparkling wines, which is one of the oldest, where the wine has a single fermentation. Before finishing the alcoholic fermentation, it is bottled so that the process ends there together with the carbon dioxide that is naturally produced. For this type of wine, the Royal grape is used, to which Alberto adds a touch of Garnacha to give it some freshness.
