A new color has arrived for wines and it is orange. Although they seem like a novelty, orange wines have been hidden within the traditional ways of making wine for more than 6,000 years. Now it has become a new stream to be discovered by wine lovers. And we have our favorites within the Spanish orange wines, which you can find in our store. The secret behind its orange colour, more vivid than white, red or rosé, is fermentation with the skin on. The grapes used to make orange wine are the same as for white wine, however, the process is different.

Orange wines from Spanish producers are increasingly popular

The orange wines come from an ancient method in which the grapes were left to macerate in clay vessels. Neither the skins nor the stems nor the seeds were removed from these grapes. And that is why the resulting wine has that amber color that has become so fashionable in the last year.

Another reason why it has become so fashionable is because it is a process with much fewer steps than for other types of wine, which requires less intervention and makes them artisan wines. This not only causes its orange color, but also a more intense flavor and aromas, and sometimes these wines without any type of treatment such as filtering or refining, may appear cloudier compared to the most common white, rosé or red wines. But processes with little intervention have become one of the things that most interests some of the wine lovers and wine producers. For this reason, now you can find even one of the Spanish orange wines among the options of each winery in our land.
