Buy Canarian wines from volcanic soil

Buying Canarian wines is a booming trend, promoted by solidarity and the particular quality of its wines. One of the main characteristics of a good Canarian wine is the volcanic soil in which the vineyards are grown. And what is important about the terrain? You’ll find out soon.

When you enter the world of viticulture, you are looking for novelties and particularities that bring something new and different to your table. From fermentation methods that are out of the ordinary, to unusual but irresistible blends of grapes. Or discover new regions and their peculiarities.

This has made the producing wineries bet on taking advantage of the volcanic terrain to plant their vineyards. In this way, they harvest a grape that will give rise to a fresh and acid balanced wine with nuances of salt and minerals. This is due to the mixture of porous rocks and sand with which practically 100% of the terrain is composed. And thanks to its high degree of minerality, the soil is capable of storing water, meaning that the vine never lacks hydration. For this reason, a Canarian wine is strong in spirit, because it is capable of subsisting in difficult terrain and in extreme conditions, such as drought. As if that were not enough, these lands are incredibly resistant to pests, so it is not necessary to give them any type of chemical treatment that will spoil the result.

In summary: The volcanic soil of the Canary Islands provides characteristics that, together with the hard work of all the participants in its production —wine growers, collectors…— are impossible to imitate.
